During Brestelcia’s Golden Age, Pippinchapel Keep was the home of Lord William Bartholomieux, a retired bard and member of a famed adventuring party which led the effort to rid Brestelcia of tribes of orcs and orogs who had terrorized the land. In the decades after the Orc Wars, Lord William gathered many halflings, who had scattered to other countries as refugees, to come and live on his lands, revitalizing the halfling race in Brestelcia. A clever man, he also prospered financially by fostering trade in the region.
The most recent occupant of the castle was Lord Peuter Marsk, who lived there with his wife and son. House Marsk always struggled with the expense of maintaining the castle, and after Lord and Lady Marsk died of the plague, their son abandoned the property to seek his fortune in Tulk City. The keep then lay dormant for fifty years, until agents of The Marble Hand took over the property for use as a cadet training center.
